The story behind Howzaaat

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Howzaaat was created by lifelong cricket enthusiasts for cricket tragics of every vintage. We celebrate the unforgettable moments, match-turning statistics, and spirited debates that make cricket the greatest game on earth.

Decades on the pitch and in the pavilion

Having played and coached cricket across many decades, our founder witnessed first-hand the positive influence cricket has on young lives. Beyond the boundaries, the real magic has always lived in the after-match clubhouse functions—reliving the "what ifs", the "if onlys", and arguing over classic dismissals. Howzaaat captures that camaraderie in a competitive tabletop card game.

Putting down the phone to connect

In an age dominated by glowing screens, Howzaaat is deliberately offline. We designed a fast-paced, social card game that demands face-to-face interaction, lively banter, and tactical calls. Whether you are relaxing with mates over a summer barbecue or testing your knowledge during a test match lunch break, it is built to bring people together.

Built for cricket nerds, welcoming to everyone

While seasoned cricket tragics will certainly thrive on their encyclopedic recall of test eras and legendary players, anyone can join in. The intuitive gameplay gives every player at least a 20% chance of making the right call, levelling the pitch so casual fans, family members, and master tacticians can compete side by side.

"Howzaaat captures the exact spirit of the clubhouse after-match banter. It is competitive, sharp, and best of all, gets everyone off their phones and talking cricket."
